Partial Processing

Partial Processing is an operating philosophy which entails a two step approach:
1: Simple, partial separation of bulk fluids with minimal facilities
2: Significantly smaller conventional equipment (vessels) providing polishing

All this utilizing cyclone based technology.

Partial Processing allows low cost, flexible alternatives to large residence time systems, however it requires a mind set change on how to process oil field fluids.

The important basis for Partial Processing is utilizing cyclonic technology to achieve the desired separation result. The most significant implications are for the size and weight of topside modules, and the capability for subsea and downhole applications.

The use of cyclonic equipment upstream in the process, where it can be “plugged in” to extend the operating envelope of existing processing facilities. In this case we “Partially” removal the constraining phase - usually gas or water. 100% phase separation is not required, therefore compact cyclonic separation technology can be utilized.

Typical situations include:
Water Constrained Case:
Local water removal, treatment and disposal from high water cut wells at remote well sites. This allows for spare capacity for existing pipeline infrastructure and central processing facilities, it also minimizes pipeline corrosion & inhibitor dosage.

Gas Constrained Case:
Gas removal upstream of production separators. This allows increased gas throughput for a given outlet spec., with improved liquid liquid separation performance.
